1. Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa (1998)

Based in the year 1970, this movie revolves around the journey of a distressed mother to find the truth behind her son’s involvement in the movement. Impeccable direction and acting skills makes this movie a must watch.
2. Maharathi (2008)
Based on James Hadley Chase’s Novel, “There’s Always a Price Tag”, it features Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri, Boman Irani, Neha Dhupia and Paresh Rawal. This movie promises exemplary performances by them. A murder mystery that involves an insurance policy, with a flawless twist makes it praiseworthy.
3. 3 Deewarein (2003)
It is a Bollywood crime film, starring, Juhi Chawla, Naseeruddin Shah, Jackie Shroff, Gulshan Grover and Nagesh Kukunoor. The story mulls over the lives of three criminals, which is being filmed by a documentary filmmaker, played by Juhi Chawla. During this process, she finds a remedy to save her troubled marriage.
4. Darwaaza Bandh Rakho (2006)
Aftab Shivdasani starrer film, Darwaaza Bandh Rakho, is a story of a Millionaire’s girl who is abducted by small time crooks . The girl is captured in a house of a Gujarati Family. Now and then, they hear a knock, which results in inviting many uninvited guests, which may destroy their plan. It is a thrilling comedy and has a creative story.
5. Dasvidaniya (2008)
It derives its name from the Russian word for “Goodbye”. This movie beautifully illustrates the quest of a dying Man. Vinay Pathak’s flawless rendition makes you want to watch and experience this film. It makes you grasp that, life is worth living.
6. Chocolate (2005)
An Artist (Irrfan Khan) and a dancer (Tanushree Dutta) who are prime suspects of a crime, appoint a lawyer (Anil Kapoor), who is intrigued to find the truth behind their story. Irrfan Khan unfolds the series of events that happened on an unfortunate day and tried to convince Anil Kapoor to fight for them. A nerve-wracking, suspense thriller, with ace performances, makes you guessing until the end.
7. 7 ½ Phere (2005)
Juhi Chawla, who plays a first time Director, decides to shoot a reality TV show with a family who is currently hosting a marriage of a loved one. Various comical events unfold during the shoot.
8. Ek Ruka Hua Faisla (1968)
It is a remake of Sidney Lumet’s, “Twelve Angry Men”. It is a courtroom drama that focuses on the twelve jury members that are appointed for the case. They confine themselves in a private room to decide whether the boy in question should be convicted of murder or not. Basu Chatterjee’s flawless direction skills make it a gem of a movie.
9. Shorts (2013)
Anurag Kashyap’s mastermind created this, out of the blue, film. It is a compilation of five short movies starring Huma Qureshi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Richa Chaddha and other promising actors. Sujata, Mehfuz, Audacity, Epilogue and Shor had different stories and were directed by five different directors, Anurag Kashyap being one of them.
10. My Wife’s Murder (2005)
It is a thrilling tale of a man (Anil Kapoor) whose wife is missing. The events take an unfateful turn when the police find a dead body, which is identified to be Anil Kapoor’s wife. It is a remake of Ram Gopal Verma’s Malayalam film, “Madhyanam Hathya”. The cast also includes Nandita Sen and Boman Irani.
